XX: Female-Focused Playlist

A woman’s voice can be a host of juxtapositions: as loud as it is soft, confident yet caring, a gentle powerhouse. Women’s voices continue to be underrepresented in many spaces, with music being no exception. A 2022 study by The Guardian found that, “The amount of top-selling female artists in the US increased in 2022, but the proportion of female songwriters making any commercial impact is still dismal...” With March being Women’s History month, I wanted to curate a playlist that was exclusively female - songs that I find myself going back to time and time again. It’s on the consumer to support the artists they wish to see thrive, so here’s a small step in the right direction.
